Malappuram: A YouTuber was on Thursday arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a BJP woman local leader in Malappuram district. The accused, identified as Subairuddin alias Subair Bappu of Koorad, was taken into custody by Wandoor police following a complaint lodged by the survivor.

According to the complaint, the incident took place on the evening of August 10, 2025, when the survivor was alone at home with her daughter. Subairuddin allegedly barged into the house, threatened the woman and subjected her to sexual assault, including an attempt to rape her. The complainant told police that the accused used intimidation to overpower her, leaving her traumatised. The harassment continued afterwards, with the accused allegedly stalking and disturbing the woman through persistent phone calls.

Wandoor police registered the case on August 27 and arrested the YouTuber the following day. He has been booked under Sections 332(c) and 352(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deal with criminal trespass and assault with intent to outrage the modesty of a woman, along with Section 125(O) of the Kerala Police Act relating to harassment.Subairuddin was produced before a local magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.

Subairuddin runs the YouTube channel ‘subairbappubusiness’, which has 23.3K subscribers and focuses on property advertisements. He was also associated with the BJP’s Minority Morcha in the district.
