Irinjalakkuda (Thrissur): Visitors to the Mooriyad Panchayat office on August 28 were in for a surprise. Seated at the Assistant Secretary’s desk was none other than Mahabali himself! But on a closer look, they realised it was Assistant Secretary Manoj Mukundan, dressed in the attire of the legendary king.

As part of the Onam celebrations, Manoj took on the role of Mahabali, complete with attire and makeup and carried out his official duties in the same look throughout the day.

Though the Onam event at the panchayat was held on a public holiday, the office saw a steady flow of people arriving to enrol their names in the voters' list and make corrections. After getting their work done, many left with a smile, wishing `Onam greetings' to Mahabali himself.
