Sabarimala temple to open tomorrow, pilgrims to get Onasadya from Sept 4 to 6

Pathanamthitta: The Lord Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala her will open for the rituals related to the Onam festival on Wednesday. The temple’s ‘Melsanthi’ (chief priest), Arun Kumar Namboothiri, will open the sanctum sanctorum in the presence of ‘Thantri’ (hereditary priest) Kandararu Mahesh Mohanaru at 5 pm.
On the ‘Uthradom’ day (September 4), the temple will be opened for devotees at 5 am. The traditional ‘Onasadya’ feast will be served at the temple on Uthradom, Thiruvonam (September 5), and Avittom (September 6).
The melsanthi will sponsor the Uthradom feast, while Travancore Devaswom Board employees will arrange the Onasadya on Thiruvonam. Police officers on duty at Sabarimala Sannidhanam will organise the Avittom feast.
All the ‘poojas’ (rituals) related to this year’s Onam will be completed by 9 pm on September 7 and the temple will be closed for devotees.
