Mannarkad: Explosives have been found in the front yard of a house in Moonamkazhi, Changaleeri. The bomb squad rushed to the spot and took away the explosive.

The explosive was found in the yard of Vasudevan’s house yesterday evening. The item that looked similar to gundu (firecracker) was yellow in colour and was found near the bikes that were parked outside the house.

The family, thinking that it was an eggplant, picked it up and placed it on top of the compound wall. Vasudevan felt suspicious when he inspected the item in the evening. He quickly alerted the panchayat member and the police. The bomb squad arrived from Palakkad by 9 pm and took away the explosive in a sand-filled bucket.

Meanwhile, the police said that the squad would inspect the explosive and contain it. However, no one seems to know how the explosive might have reached here. Vasudevan said that he is not suspicious of anyone. Police stated that a detailed investigation would be launched.
