Electricity connection was provided to Jayanthi, a resident of Periya Marankavil in Kasaragod, as an Onam gift from the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) staff in Periya. Overseer Suneesh, who had arrived for a line inspection, informed the Periya office about Jayanthi and her family's plight.

They were leading a difficult life in a house that lacked both electricity and proper enclosure. Jayanthi, her ailing husband Chinnaswamy, daughter Selvi, and two school-going grandchildren had been living in darkness in that small house, which lacked even a door.

Immediately upon learning of their situation, the office staff, led by Sub Engineer Gireesh, bought wiring materials and wired the house free of charge. The connection was established by installing an electricity pole and drawing a new line.

KSEB Periya Section Office Assistant Engineer Sandeep Sudheer performed the switch-on ceremony.
