Kochi: The Perumbavoor police recovered the body of an unidentified man near a lodge close to the KSRTC stand on Saturday morning. According to the police, passersby first noticed the body lying in the corridor of the lodge and alerted authorities after spotting bloodstains on the man’s head and neck.

“Prima facie, it appears the man may have collapsed after consuming alcohol. Locals recall seeing him earlier in an inebriated state on the roadside. The injuries could have resulted from a fall, but this can be confirmed only after the postmortem,” police sources said.

The inquest has been completed, and the body has been shifted to the mortuary. The police said they will wait two days for any relatives to come forward and identify the deceased. A case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) for unnatural death, and further investigation is underway.
