Wayanad: A tribal man suffered injuries after being attacked by a wild elephant in Wayanad on Saturday, forest officials said. The injured is Chinnan (51), hailing from Mannundi settlement in Thirunelli panchayat.

The man was attacked when he tried to chase away the elephant, which strayed into the premises of his house located adjacent to forests, according to PTI. Chinnan suffered fractures in his ribs and shoulder.

Though he was rushed to a nearby hospital, he was later shifted to Kozhikode Government Medical College for expert care.

Forest officials and Rapid Response Team (RRT) visited the area and took out the necessary measures.
