Kozhikode: The police here on Monday arrested three people, including two women, on charges of extortion in an alleged honey-trap case. The accused are Gouri Nanda (20) of Mavelikkara, Ansina (28) of Feroke, and her husband Muhammad Afeef (30) from Tirurangadi.

As per the case, the trio invited the complainant — a businessman from Azhinjalam near Feroke — to a house at Vallarukunnummal near Kunnamangalam on Friday and clicked his nude photos.

According to the police, Gauri Nanda befriended the man after meeting him at his shop in Ramanattukkara. She then invited him to the house in Madavoor. After photographing him, she allegedly snatched his mobile phone and forced him to transfer ₹1,45,000 to the other two accused, her partners in the crime. Though he complied, the accused continued to demand more money, threatening to send his nude pictures to his family members.

Following this, the businessman approached the police. Kunnamangalam police traced the three-member gang through their UPI number, with assistance from the Cyber Cell. The gang was eventually tracked down at Mananchira. The trio were arrested while planning to approach the City Police Commissioner’s office to lodge a sexual assault case against the businessman, allegedly in retaliation for his complaint.
