Pathanamthitta: A regional holiday has been declared in Pathanamthitta district on Tuesday, in connection with the Aranmula Uthrattathi Boat Race.

The holiday applies to government offices, anganwadis, and educational institutions, including professional colleges, District Collector S Premkrishnan announced. However, previously scheduled examinations will be conducted as planned, he added. 

The Aranmula boat race, an annual water carnival, marks the anniversary of the idol installation at the Sree Parthasarathy temple, and is regarded as one of the oldest events of its kind in the state.

Separately, a holiday has been declared in Thiruvananthapuram city tomorrow afternoon in connection with the concluding procession of the Onam week celebrations. The District Collector said that all government, semi-government offices, and educational institutions in the city will remain closed in the afternoon under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
