Perumbetty: The proposal to establish a Happiness Park at Nagappara, located on the fringes of the Valiyakavu forests and serving as a border point between Kottangal and Kottanad panchayats, is yet to materialise.

The project was envisioned as a joint initiative of the Mallappally Block Panchayat and Kottangal Panchayat. In its first phase, the Block Panchayat earmarked ₹5 lakh for the project, while the Panchayat allocated an additional ₹1 lakh. The plan envisaged creating an eco-friendly corridor in line with the Green Protocol.

Nagappara, already a popular attraction for its scenic charm and biodiversity, draws visitors even from neighbouring districts. The proposed Happiness Park was intended to enhance this experience by promoting village tourism while also providing basic infrastructure and seating facilities for visitors.

Locals remain hopeful that the project will soon take shape, transforming Nagappara into a model eco-tourism destination.
