The Kerala government has suspended an office attendant at the Adoor Taluk office in Pathanamthitta for accepting a commission linked to a bribe taken by a traffic police officer. The action followed a Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) report.

The suspended official, Vishnu S R, received ₹59,000 through Google Pay from tipper truck owners on behalf of his relative, Sub-Inspector Sumesh Lal D S of the Pathanamthitta Traffic Unit. The probe revealed that Vishnu personally kept ₹10,050 as commission.

The offence is punishable under Sections 7, 11, and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and a case has been registered against him. Citing the risk of influencing witnesses and tampering with evidence, the VACB recommended his immediate suspension, which the government has enforced.

During the suspension period, Vishnu will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per service rules.
