Kasaragod: A school counselling session brought to light a decade-long ordeal of sexual assault faced by a 17-year-old girl, prompting Ambalathara police to register cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against her father, maternal uncle, and a neighbour on Thursday.
The neighbour, identified as Vijayan, has been arrested and remanded in custody after being presented before a court, according to the Ambalathara Station House Officer (SHO). The girl’s father and maternal uncle, who are currently employed abroad, have also been charged.
According to the complaint, the father allegedly abused the girl 10 years ago when she was only seven years old. Her maternal uncle is accused of assaulting her two years ago when she was 15, while the neighbour, Vijayan, allegedly committed the crime one month ago.
In a separate incident, Ambalathara police have registered another POCSO case against a 17-year-old boy following a complaint by a 16-year-old girl, who accused him of sexually assaulting her at her residence.
