Konni: A sambar deer that was swept away in the Achankovil river was rescued by the Rapid Response Team (RRT) of the Forest Department. The animal, seen floating in the water, was first spotted by locals at the Mulamoottil Mannil ghat near Attachakkal.

They immediately alerted the Forest Department, and RRT members led by Deputy Range Officer M I Jileef rushed to the spot and rescued the animal. The deer was shifted to the Kummannoor Forest Station, where it was given primary treatment. As there were no major health concerns, the animal was released into the Kummannoor forest by 3.30 pm.
