Thiruvananthapuram Fast track special court (POCSO) has found a 20-year-old youth guilty of sexually assaulting and impregnating a 14-year-old girl. The verdict will be pronounced on Saturday. The incident pertaining to the case happened on November 9, 2022. The survivor, who was then a class 8 student, was forcibly taken by the accused to a dilapidated building and sexually assaulted. 

The girl became pregnant and she underwent an abortion at the SAT hospital. Considering the age of the survivor, a team of doctors had decided to terminate the pregnancy. Later DNA test confirmed the paternity of the accused. In addition to this case, the youth is also awaiting trial in another case in which he molested the survivor after being released on bail. A case is also pending at the juvenile justice court. The accused had assaulted the survivor for filing a case against him. 

Special public prosecutor R S Vijayamohan appeared for the prosecution. The case was investigated by Fort CI J Ragesh. The survivor has not been able to pursue her studies following the incident.
