Iritty: The students of Peratta St. Joseph’s school have nurtured a dream for a fabulous future by hiding a tiny seed inside balls made of soil, water and manure. However, they have offered a ray of hope, not for mankind, but for the animals that roam around the woods, starving and unable to find any food.

The students made the seed balls along with 15 other schools from various states as part of 375th anniversary of the Visakhapatnam province of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Annecy. 173 students of the school made around 20010 seed balls within an hour.

Meanwhile, the school authorities said that they aim to achieve the world record. The program was coordinated via Zoom calls between the 15 participant schools from various states, and all the students jointly made more than 11,90796 seed balls in an hour.

Seed balls would be scattered in the forest to ensure enough food for the wild animals in their natural habitat. It would also prevent them from roaming into populated areas in search of food. The students hope that the seeds would absorb the manure and grow naturally in the forests.

Besides, they would also seek the forest department’s help to scatter the seed balls in the forest. Headmistress Sr Texi Mathew and PTA president Biju Venkalappally oversaw the event.
