Edappal: A ward member and the villagers moved an elderly woman who was found weak and ill, alone in a house, to the hospital. After staying at the hospital for two days, the woman has now been shifted to the Thvanoor old age home.
The 62-year-old woman was extremely weak and was barely able to move when Dileep Ervapra member of ward 18 in Vattakulam panchayat and Ashiq Annakkampadu found her at her rented quarters in Edappal Annakkampattu. The duo swiftly moved her to a private hospital in Edappal.
The woman whose husband had died years ago is childless. Although her brothers and other relatives were urged to reach the hospital, they refused. Dileep and Aashiq then informed Changaramkulam police who spoke to the relatives. However, the relatives said that they were unwilling to take up the woman’s responsibility.
Meanwhile, the authorities of the old age home had initially refused to admit her as her relatives had told that she was 58 years old. But, later, the woman’s documents were verified and found out that she is in fact 62 years old.
Panchayat president MA Najeeb and the ward member then intervened to admit the women at the old age home yesterday.
