Thiruvananthapuram: Two women police officials have filed a complaint against VG Vinod Kumar, AIG (Law and Order), alleging that he sent them obscene messages. The officers recorded their statements before the Internal Complaints Redressal Cell headed by AIG Merin Joseph at the police headquarters here on Friday.

The internal panel launched a probe after the complainants, both of Sub Inspector rank, approached South Zone DIG Ajitha Beegum. In their petition, they alleged that while serving as Pathanamthitta SP, Vinod Kumar sent them obscene messages, even late at night.

Following a preliminary inquiry, ADGP Ajitha Beegum submitted a report to the State Police Chief recommending a detailed investigation under the POSH Act (The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace [Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal] Act). Based on her report, the case was referred to the internal committee.

However, Vinod Kumar denied the allegations, claiming he had only sent official messages to the women using WhatsApp’s broadcast feature.
