Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader V D Satheesan on Sunday denied any involvement of Congress workers in the ongoing cyber attacks targeting him over the suspension of Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil. He said the abusive content circulating online is being spread through numerous fake social media accounts.

Satheesan said that, having personally experienced being sidelined during his rise through the party’s youth movements, he is committed to ensuring that no young leader faces a similar situation. "I know that not even a single person connected to the party in any manner is involved in this cyber attack. It is coming from 10-25 fake IDs," he said.

Justifying Rahul's suspension from the party following multiple sexual misconduct allegations, Satheesan said it was a collective decision of the senior leaders of the Congress. He added that the action was taken even though there was not even an FIR against the MLA.

"The opposition is coming to the Legislative Assembly session, which is set to begin on Monday, with pride that it has taken steps to safeguard the interests of women," he said. Satheesan also pointed out that the LDF has no moral right to question them, as those facing rape charges are still part of the ruling regime.

Rahul resigned as Youth Congress state president following allegations of misconduct from multiple women. Malayalam actor Rini Ann George had earlier accused an unnamed political leader of sending her offensive messages. Soon after, writer Honey Bhaskaran publicly named Rahul in a Facebook post, alleging he had repeatedly sent her unsolicited messages. She said while the initial exchanges were casual, he persisted, and she eventually cut off contact.
