Ottaplam: A young woman who jumped into the Bharathapuzha river from Mayannoor Bridge was rescued by locals. The 28-year-old woman, a native of Vaniyamkulam, had jumped over the bridge's railing into the river.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening around 4:45 pm. Locals who saw the young woman caught in the current pulled her to the shore within moments.

Those present along the riverbank brought the young woman ashore from behind the railway station.

Upon receiving information, the police and fire and rescue services from Shornur arrived at the scene. Police stated that the young woman did not suffer any serious health issues as she was rescued within moments of jumping. An ambulance was arranged, and she was transferred to the Taluk Hospital.
