Thiruvananthapuram: A bomb threat the Kerala secretariat received on Tuesday morning turned out to be a hoax after an inspection by the police, bomb disposal unit, and the dog squad revealed no explosive material.
An officer of the Cantonment police station confirmed the threat was fake.

The threat was received on the email of the state protocol officer in the morning. The police were informed immediately, and the inspection was carried out after some staff members were cleared out, the officer said.
The entire secretariat was not evacuated, he said, adding that the police were now looking into the source of the email.

There have been several instances of such bomb threats by email to district collectorates, airports and courts this year. All of them were found to be fake.
