Kozhikode: A 32-year-old man created a ruckus at the Mukkam police station in the early hours of Tuesday by pelting stones at officers and damaging a police vehicle.

The accused, Aboobacker Siddique of Pulpatta in Malappuram, arrived at the station around 2.35 am and allegedly hurled stones at Senior Civil Police Officer Joshi V K and station guard Sarath Lal, before smashing the windshields of a police vehicle parked on the premises. Police said he was under the influence of alcohol at the time.

A case has been registered under sections 329(3) (criminal trespass) and 132 (assault on a public servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984. Sub Inspector Santhosh Kumar K is leading the investigation.

The accused underwent a medical examination at the Mukkam Community Health Centre and will be produced before the Thamarassery JFCM Court, police said.
