Idukki: A 34-year-old man from Kannur was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing his friend’s 11-year-old daughter earlier this year. The accused has been identified as PK Vijesh, a native of Pottenpilav in Kannur.

According to police, the alleged incident took place in 2024 in Thodupuzha. Vijesh exploited his friendship with the child’s mother, originally from Kannur and employed at a private firm in Thodupuzha, to get close to the child and commit the alleged offence.

The incident came to light after the child’s mother left the country for work. The child later disclosed the alleged abuse to her father, who immediately filed a complaint at the Thodupuzha Police Station.

Following a detailed investigation, a police team led by SI Ajeesh K John tracked down and apprehended Vijesh in Kannur on Wednesday. He was subsequently produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody.
