Malappuram: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra trekked into the Karulai forests of Malappuram to meet the Cholanaykkar tribal community, listen to their concerns, and assure support.

She was accompanied by C Vinod, a tribal community member pursuing a PhD in Tribal Economy, who had earlier highlighted their issues during her election campaign. On his request, she visited the hamlet and later brought representatives to the Forest Department’s Inspection Bungalow for discussions.

During talks with forest officials and the community, demands for houses and bridges were raised, reported PTI. Priyanka also interacted with those working closely with tribal groups, underscoring her commitment to addressing their challenges.

Following the visit, she proceeded to the Nilambur teak depot, inspected its museum activities, and later visited Nilambur Railway Station to review ongoing development works. She held discussions on the Vaniyambalam flyover, Nilambur station renovation, and other railway-related requirements.
