Thiruvananthapuram: The Nemom police on Friday registered a case against Karamana civil police officer Sumesh for attempting to murder his neighbour, Binosh T S (36), at the latter's property in SN Junction, Peringammala, Pallichal.

According to the FIR, the incident took place around 4.10 pm when Sumesh parked his car and consumed alcohol on Binosh’s property. When questioned, he threatened to kill Binosh, struck his elbow with a hammer, and slashed his face with a cleaver. Binosh narrowly escaped a blow aimed at his head, but suffered injuries below his nose. He was then taken to Nemom Taluk Hospital for treatment.

Sumesh has been booked under sections 109 (attempt to murder), 117(1) (causing hurt with dangerous weapons), and 351(3) (criminal intimidation with threat to cause death) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The police are yet to arrest Sumesh.
