Thrissur: Excise officials arrested a youth after recovering 20 grams of MDMA concealed in his rectum. The accused, identified as Richu from Aluva, was apprehended at Thrissur railway station soon after arriving by train from Bengaluru, based on a tip-off.

Initial inspection at the station did not reveal any contraband. He was taken to Thrissur District General Hospital, where scans confirmed the presence of MDMA. The drugs were removed in the operation theatre with a surgeon’s assistance. Officials said Richu is a repeat offender and is under investigation. His phone records are being examined to trace the source of the drugs and intended recipients in Thrissur.
