Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF), popularly known as Milma, has slashed the maximum retail prices (MRPs) of nearly 100 value-added dairy products, passing on the benefits of the revised Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates to consumers. The new prices will come into effect from Monday.

One litre of Milma ghee will now cost ₹675, down from ₹720, while the 500-ml pack will be priced at ₹345 instead of ₹370. The cut follows a GST reduction on ghee from 12 per cent to 5 per cent.

The price of butter has been reduced from ₹240 to ₹225, while paneer (500 g) will be cheaper by ₹11, at ₹234 after the GST on paneer was removed.

In desserts, a litre of vanilla ice cream will cost ₹196, down from ₹220, as the GST rate has been slashed from 18 per cent to 5 per cent.

Other products have also seen a drop in prices. GST on flavoured milk has been reduced from 12 per cent to 5 per cent, UHT milk from 5 per cent to zero, and payasam mix from 18 per cent to 5 per cent. Packaged juices, too, will now be cheaper.

Milma Chairman K S Mani said the federation was committed to passing on the full benefit of the tax relief to consumers. “With these adjustments, ghee, butter, and paneer will be around 7 per cent cheaper, while ice creams will see a reduction of 12–13 per cent. The revised tax framework not only eases the burden on consumers but also strengthens the competitiveness of primary milk cooperative societies,” he added.
