Malappuram: Police seized 843 grams of gold compound from a passenger at Calicut International Airport on Wednesday. The passenger, Fasalurahman (35) of Kooriyad, Malappuram, had arrived from Jeddah on an IndiGo flight (6E 66) around 11 am.

Officers said the gold, valued at over ₹90 lakh in the domestic market, was concealed in two packets strapped to the soles of his feet and hidden inside his socks.
Acting on a tip-off received by the Malappuram District Police Chief, police intercepted Fasalurahman as he exited the airport after customs checks.

Despite prolonged questioning, he initially denied carrying any contraband. However, a detailed search of his luggage and person led to the recovery of the gold packets.

Officials confirmed that the seized gold will be produced before the court, and a report will be forwarded to the Customs Preventive Division for further investigation.
