Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government on Thursday announced a major reshuffle at the IPS level, transferring seven senior officers.
Among them is Johnkutty K L, Superintendent of Police, Special Investigation Unit I, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB), who supervised the inquiry into the alleged wealth misappropriation by ADGP M R Ajith Kumar. He has now been posted as SP, Crime Branch, Ernakulam. Johnkutty, along with inquiry officer DySP Shibu Pappachan, had submitted a report finding no evidence against Ajith Kumar. However, the Vigilance Court recently rejected the report, observing that the inquiry was manipulated to shield the ADGP.
Another significant transfer is that of Yogesh Gupta, Director General, Fire & Rescue Services, who has been appointed Road Safety Commissioner. Gupta is currently pursuing legal action against the state in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), alleging that the government withheld a vigilance status report sought by the Union Home Ministry, thereby obstructing his chances of securing a central posting.
Sujith Das S, reinstated earlier this year after a controversial suspension, has also been shifted. Formerly SP (Information, Communication and Technology), he is now posted as Assistant Inspector General of Police (Procurement). Das was suspended in September 2024 following allegations by former Nilambur MLA P V Anvar, who accused him of serious misconduct, including links to gold smugglers and illegal felling of trees.
V G Vinodkumar, AIG (Law & Order), has been appointed SP (Information, Communication and Technology), replacing Sujith Das. This marks his second transfer in two months, following his brief stint as AIG after serving as Pathanamthitta SP.
Other key postings include:
- Nitin Agrawal, Road Safety Commissioner, is transferred and posted as Director General, Fire & Rescue Services.
- Gopakumar K S, Additional Commissioner of Excise (Admin), is transferred and posted as AIG, Law & Order.
- Nakul Rajendra Deshmukh, DCP (Law & Order II), Thiruvananthapuram City, is transferred and posted as Commissioner of Police, Thrissur City.
