Man bitten and four others attacked by cat near Calicut University campus

Thenjipalam: Five persons have been injured in the attack by a ferocious cat at Manikulathu Parambu near the campus of the University of Calicut. One was bitten while four others were scratched by the cat that turned violent. Manikulathu Parambu Veetil V Sasikala, Thottungal T Sudhakaran, Kallungal K Syama, and Manikulathu Parambu Veetil MP Arya sustained injuries. The victims were chased and attacked by the cat. Four of them took the anti-rabies vaccination after they were attacked. A young man staying at the rented quarters too was attacked by the same cat on Wednesday. He had scratches on his body. However, the cat died later and was buried. Meanwhile, the health department urged to preserve the cat’s body for a few days. The cat was then presented at the animal husbandry department as instructed by the health officials. Besides, the authorities at the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in Pookode, Wayanad too were alerted.
