Agali: M Murukesh (Murukesh Cherunali) of Agali Kavundikkal Nakkupathi Unnathi has been appointed as a member of the state food commission, representing the Scheduled Tribe community.   

He is the grandson of Kadan Moopan who had worked hand in hand with noted Communist leader and MLA Kongeri Krishnan to strengthen the foundation of the Communist Party in the tribal hamlets of Kerala. Meanwhile, Murukesh is a CPI local committee member, secretary of All India Dalit Rights Movement of Agali branch as well as the branch president of AIYF. Besides, Murukesh is also a district committee member of the Kerala Renaissance Sadas. 

Murukesh who has completed MBA from the Cochin University of Science and Technology is a successful farmer. Besides the traditional micro grains, he grows paddy, plantains, cassava, coffee, pepper, coconut trees and cashews in the 10 acres of farm land that the family owns. He also rears goat, cows and fowls. Murukesh has won the state government’s Karshaka Jyothi award as well as the award for best young farmer by the department of youth affairs. 

Late Mallan and Reshi are his parents. Vanchi, Shelvi, Priya, Valli and Ratheesh are his siblings. His wife is Dhanalakshmi. 

Adv. Jinu Zacharia Oommen is the chairman of the food commission in which Adv. KN Sugathan Ernakulam, V Ramesh Perinthalmanna, TK Sheela (Sheela Vijayakumar) Thrissur are the other members. 

Earlier, a member of the CPI Attapady mandalam committee had left the party following a controversy regarding the appointment of another woman in the commission.
