Kodungallur: An accused person jumped into a pond after seeing the police who arrived with an arrest warrant. The police and fire rescue team jointly persuaded him and brought him out of the pond. Later, the police arrested the accused. The arrested person is Ashique (Achu-34) from Vadakkan Veettil, Kothaparambu.

He jumped into the Dalava pond at Chandappura upon seeing the police who had arrived with a warrant in a cyber case. The fire rescue team, who arrived after being informed of the incident, provided him with a life jacket. Following this, he was brought ashore.

The case alleges that in 2021, the accused befriended a woman through social media and demanded two lakh rupees from her. Out of vengeance for not receiving the amount, he sent photos and videos taken without the woman's knowledge when they were friends, to the phones of her mother, sister, and friends. In the case registered by Irinjalakuda Cyber Police, the accused had obtained bail and absconded.

The court issued an arrest warrant to apprehend Ashique, who had been evading trial by not appearing in court. During the investigation based on this warrant, the police received a tip-off that Ashique was in the Kodungallur area.
