Kozhikode: A packet of MDMA and weighing machine were recovered from a septic tank during a police operation in Kozhikode on Friday.
The DANSAF team and Chevayur police have arrested Saheer Mohammed M (42), a native of Arakkinar near Beypore, from his rented house in Cheerottilthazhe, Kakkodi, in connection with the case. According to police, the accused flushed the drugs and the weighing device into the septic tank after noticing the presence of the raiding team. The tank was opened and 12 grams of MDMA along with the machine were recovered.
Investigators said Saheer was a key link in the distribution chain of MDMA in Kozhikode city, sourcing the narcotics from Bengaluru. He was previously booked for ramming into a DANSAF vehicle in the West Hill area while transporting MDMA from Bengaluru. Police are now probing his wider network of contacts and dealers in Bengaluru.
Officials added that Saheer frequently shifted between rented houses in the city and suburbs to carry out his illegal activities.
The arrest was made by the DANSAF team under City Narcotic Cell Assistant Commissioner K A Boss, along with Chevayur Sub Inspector Nimin K Divakaran and his team.
