Minister for Devaswoms V N Vasavan on Wednesday accused Unnikrishnan Potty of deliberately orchestrating a conspiracy related to the Dwarapalaka pedestal at the Sabarimala Temple.

"There is suspicion surrounding Unnikrishnan Potty’s role in Sabarimala temple, and the full details will come out in due course. The court will also be informed about these findings," the minister said, adding that the High Court verdict in the case is a welcome step.

As part of the ongoing probe, the Vigilance wing of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) recently recovered the missing pedestal of one of the Dwarapalaka idols. It was found at the house of a relative of Unnikrishnan Potty, who had sponsored the idol. The pedestal had been missing for over six years.

The minister confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is currently underway into the incident. He further alleged that the recovery of the missing pedestals from the house of Unnikrishnan's sister points to a well-planned and deliberate operation.

The minister also questioned Unnikrishnan Potty’s presence and involvement at Sabarimala, calling it suspicious. He said there are indications that Unnikrishnan had exploited devotees arriving from India and abroad in various ways.

“Let the comprehensive investigation proceed. It should also be examined whether there was any lapse on the part of Devaswom Board officials,” he said. Vasavan further remarked that if it is suspected that Unnikrishnan acted in coordination with those opposing the Global Ayyappa Sangamam, it would not be wrong to say so.
