Thrissur: A youth duped a lottery agent of ₹15,000 by submitting colour photocopies of a Kerala Government Samrudhi lottery ticket. According to the agent, Nelliparambil Tejas, the incident took place on September 27 when the youth came to his stall near Kattoor High School and presented three colour photocopies of fourth-prize tickets from the September 21 draw.

When the QR code on the ticket was scanned, it showed eligibility for the prize. Tejas then paid the youth the prize money after deducting the commission. The fraud came to light when the lottery agent submitted the tickets for official verification and found that the original ticket had already been encashed at the Alappuzha Treasury on September 23. Based on Tejas's complaint, the Kattoor police have registered a case, and a probe is underway.
