Mananthavady: Six Bengaluru natives were arrested at Bavali, on the Kerala–Karnataka border, after police seized MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) and ganja from their possession on Saturday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Arbas (37), Ummer Farooque (28), Muhammed Sabi (28), Ismail (27), Umraz Khan (27), and Sayeed Sadique (27).

The arrests were made during a routine vehicle inspection at the border check-post. Police said they became suspicious when the group behaved rudely during the inspection. A search of their car led to the seizure of 2 grams of MDMA and 2 grams of ganja.

The operation was jointly carried out by a special police team and the Anti-Narcotics Squad, led by Panamaram Sub-Inspector K M Santhosh Mon and Tirunelli Sub-Inspector Sajimon P Sebastian. The police also seized the car (KA 41 MB 5567) used by the accused.
