Annanad: As part of the efforts to promote reading habits among residents in this village, the rural library here has launched a novel programme of reaching out to homes for delivering books as well as organising public gatherings in the courtyards of houses.

The Courtyard Gatherings was inaugurated by writer K S Akhila. Library President P R Bhaskaran presided over the event. Poet K S Hari, people's representatives Rakhi Suresh and K N Rajesh, Library Secretary Gokul Gopi, Vice President Girija Unni, and Library Librarian T G Devadas delivered speeches.

As part of these public gatherings, which will continue until November 1, reading sessions, membership drives, and discussions will be organized at the residences of book enthusiasts across various localities.

On the 12th, a gathering will be held at K N Rajesh's residence in Annanad Yakshikavala, followed by one at I Saraswathi's residence on the 19th, and at K K Mohanan's residence on the 26th.

The 'Courtyards Gatherings' will conclude on November 2nd at the Annanad Rural Library. Professor M Haridas, President of the District Library Council, and novelist K V Manikandan will be the chief guests at the closing ceremony.
