Thiruvalla: Walking along the footpaths in Thiruvalla is becoming increasingly dangerous, with rusted iron poles and exposed rods threatening the safety of unsuspecting pedestrians.
Near the KSRTC bus station on MC Road, a bent and corroded signage pole leans precariously over the walkway — its sharp edge hanging at head height. Someone, sensing the risk, has tied a plastic bottle to the tip in a makeshift attempt to alert passersby.

This isn’t an isolated case. Along MC Road within Thiruvalla town limits, multiple such hazards have been spotted, especially near busy pedestrian stretches. The footpaths are used daily by schoolchildren, elderly residents, and commuters, many of whom may not notice these dangers until it’s too late.

Residents are now urging authorities to extend the same vigilance used to remove unauthorised banners and flex boards to identifying and removing hazardous structures like these. A delayed response, they warn, could result in serious injury.
