Decayed body of unidentified man recovered from pond in Kozhikode

Kozhikode: The decayed body of an unidentified middle-aged man was recovered from an abandoned pond in Koyilandy on Sunday morning.
The pond, located behind the old telephone exchange, is private property. Local residents, who had noticed a foul smell, found the body and alerted the police. Koyilandy police sought the help of the Fire and Rescue personnel, who recovered the remains by 11.20 am.
The body has been shifted to the Kozhikode Medical College mortuary after an inquest. Police said they are verifying missing person cases and have collected fingerprints and DNA samples to establish the man's identity.
