Palakkad: Another fatal elephant attack was reported in Kerala within a span of 12 hours, after a man was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Manchakandi in Attapadi on Monday. The deceased was identified as Santhakumar (45), son of Rangaswamy and a resident of Cheerakadavu.

The incident occurred shortly after 7.30 pm, when Santhakumar was returning home after work on his bike. He reportedly came in front of a wild elephant walking along the road.

Mulli ward member Valli said that the elephant trampled Santhakumar and also damaged his bike. Local residents, who were alerted immediately, rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. 

His body is currently kept at Thukkamala Hospital. Santhakumar is survived by his father, mother, wife, a daughter, and a son.

Earlier in the day, a plantation worker was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Idukki.
