Alappuzha/Kochi: Sharath S Nair, a native of Thuravoor in Alappuzha, won the first prize of ₹25 crore in the Onam Bumper lottery. Sharath, who works at Nippon Paints in Nettoor, Kochi, had purchased the winning ticket—TH 577825—from Nettoor itself.

He submitted the ticket at the State Bank of India branch in Thaikkattussery, Thuravoor, on Monday. “I was at work when the results came out. I first informed my brother, and we verified the number together. We decided to reveal it only after handing over the ticket to the bank. Everyone at home is overjoyed. I haven’t yet planned what to do with the prize money,” he told Manorama News.

Sharath said that apart from his immediate family, no one else knew about the win until the ticket was verified. This was his first time buying an Onam Bumper ticket. “I think I’ll continue buying lotteries in the future too,” he added with a smile.

Sharath lives with his parents, brother, wife, and child in Thuravoor.
