Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is likely to experience heavy rain at isolated places over the next few days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). A yellow alert has been issued in five districts on Thursday.

The IMD said an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over the Comorin area and its neighbourhood at around 1.5 km above mean sea level. Another circulation is likely to form over the north Bay of Bengal around October 10.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, with speeds reaching 30–40 kmph, are very likely at one or two places across Kerala till October 12. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during this period.
