Mangaluru: Police in Mangaluru have registered an FIR against Malayalam actor Jayakrishnan and two of his associates from Kerala for allegedly hurling communal slurs at a cab driver.

According to police, the incident took place on the night of October 9 when Jayakrishnan (50), Santosh Abraham, and Vimal booked a cab from Bejai New Road.

The driver, identified as Ahmed Shafiq (32), alleged that the trio abused him in Hindi and Malayalam when he contacted them through the mobile app to confirm the pickup location. The complaint was filed at the Urwa Police Station on Friday.

A case has been registered under Sections 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 353(2) (statements conducing to public mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. No arrests have been made so far.

“Digital trails have helped identify the accused, and their statements are being recorded,” a police source said.
