Idukki: A bomb threat email claiming that an explosive had been planted at the Mullaperiyar dam was found to be fake after hours of intensive search.

The message was first received at the Thrissur District Court through email on Sunday. The court authorities immediately forwarded the information to the Thrissur District Collector, who, in turn, alerted his Idukki counterpart, considering the seriousness of the matter.

Following the alert, a joint inspection was carried out at the dam by the bomb squad, dog squad, and police officials in Idukki. Key areas, including the main dam, baby dam, and the shutters controlling water flow to Tamil Nadu, were thoroughly inspected. Security personnel examined every section with extreme caution.

Despite an extensive search, no suspicious objects were found. Officials later confirmed that the threat appeared to be a hoax.
