Ramanattukara: The public gathered for a protest march condemning the police action against the Parvees bus, a private bus that runs service in the Mele Puthukad – City route. The bus was taken into police custody following a minor accident when the bus brushed against a car. Meanwhile, the people protested as transportation crisis became severe in the area after the police refused to release the bus.

Parvees bus was taken into police custody on September 27. On that day, the police had asked the bus employees to pay the car owner Rs 5000 as compensation. However, the people of the locality allege that although the bus employees had told the police that they could pay the sum only after discussing with the owner, neither the police nor the car owner paid any attention. The police reportedly failed to reach a compromise even though elected representatives interfered in the matter.

With the bus service stalled, the residents of Puthikad are forced to walk for kilometres to reach 11th Mile or Parammal to board private bus. M Balakrishnan, Askar Puthukad, K Radhakrishnan and CK Abdurahman, state committee member of Bus Owners’ Association spoke at the protest march.
