Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple chief priest (tantri) Parameswaran Vasudevan Bhattathiripad, on Tuesday, urged that corrective rituals (parihara kriya) be performed after the Ashtami Rohini sadya was served to Devaswom minister V N Vasavan before being offered to the deity.
In a letter to the Travancore Devaswom Board, he stated that the incident constituted a serious violation of temple traditions and required immediate rectification. "The deity did not accept the offering during the last Ashtami Rohini, so corrective rituals must be performed," the Tantri said.
The letter also instructs the temple authorities and members of the Palliyoda Seva Sangham to offer oil and monetary contributions at the temple and to repeat the rituals. Addressing the letter to the TDB President and concerned members, the Tantri said that a collective decision should be taken in this regard.
The Tantri added that on the day of the incident, the Ashtami Rohini sadya was offered to the deity around 12 pm, while the minister and other guests were served the meal earlier, between 10.30 and 11 am. “The deity must be served first, and that did not happen. This constitutes a serious breach of temple norms,” he told the media.
