Mananthavadi: Volunteers of the NSS unit at Mananthavadi Government Polytechnic College have succesfully repaired and restored defunct equipment worth around ₹5.5 lakhs at the District Cancer Centre, Nalloornad

As part of the initiative, devices that had been gathering dust were repainted and repairs were carried out on wheelchairs, stretchers, OP chairs and trolleys used by patients. Fluid stands, lockers, screens and coats, which were on the verge of being abandoned due to rust, were also restored to working condition.

The restoration drive spanned three days and involved 60 volunteers and college faculty members.

The camp, held under the Punarjani Project by the Technical Cell of the National Service Scheme, was inaugurated by Mananthavadi Block Panchayat President Justine Baby. Programme Officer Jyothis Paul presided over the event. Several officials, including Dr Soorya, Head Nurse Alees Mahew, PT Subash, Assistant Programme Officer M A Dhanitha, as well as staff members Jishnu Jayanandan, O G Sandeep, Abdul Rasheed, V S Sreejith, and volunteer secretaries Sreeya and K J Abin, spoke on the occasion.
