Kozhikode: A 42-year-old sorcerer was arrested in Kozhikode on Tuesday for allegedly raping a college student and threatening her with nude photographs. The accused, identified as Cholayil Kunjumon of Muttil, Wayanad, was arrested from his house in Parambil Kadavu by Chevayur Station Inspector Mahesh and his team.

According to the police, the girl’s mother had taken her to Kunjumon seeking a remedy for insomnia. He instructed them to conduct special rituals at his residence. When the girl arrived with materials for the ritual, he allegedly sexually assaulted her and took explicit photographs. Later, he followed her to college, coerced her into a lodge and raped her again.

The survivor subsequently filed a complaint with the Chevayur Police. Kunjumon has been remanded in judicial custody.
