Kozhikode: A 35-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for trespassing into the Elathur police station and damaging property. The accused, Binoy G of Adichodipparamba, Mokavoor, entered the station premises on a two-wheeler while under the influence of alcohol.

When officers prevented him from leaving on his vehicle, he became aggressive, forced his way inside the station and tried to assault the personnel on duty. He then hit and broke the front grill and handrails, causing damage worth ₹50,000.

Binoy was arrested on the spot and taken for a medical examination. He has been booked under Sections 132 and 296(b) of the BNS and Section 3(1) of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984. He was later remanded in judicial custody. Sub-Inspector Harish Kumar VT is leading the probe.
