CPM councillor arrested for snatching gold necklace from elderly woman in Kannur

Kannur: A CPM councillor from Kannur was arrested on Saturday for stealing a gold necklace from a 77-year-old woman at her residence. The accused, P P Rajesh, is the councillor of Palaparamba ward in the Koothuparamba Municipality.
The incident took place on Thursday around 12.40 pm. According to the FIR, Rajesh entered Janaki's house through a half-open kitchen door and forcefully snatched the gold chain from her neck before fleeing the scene. The stolen chain is estimated to be worth around ₹1 lakh.
Police identified the accused after examining multiple CCTV footages from the area.
