Kochi: Manorama Hortus, the annual art and culture festival, is set to celebrate the magic of the Spanish language and literature this year. The festival, to be held from November 27 to 30 at Subhash Park, will serve as a meeting ground for Malayalam and Spanish literary worlds.
Three internationally acclaimed Spanish-language authors will headline this edition of Hortus. They include Rodrigo Blanco Calderón from Venezuela, author of Simpatía, which made it to the 2024 International Booker Prize longlist and winner of the O Henry Prize; Michel Nieva from Argentina, known for his unique “Gaucho–punk” style blending Latin American history, science and fantasy, and for his O Henry Prize-winning story Dengue Boy; and Pilar Quintana from Colombia, author of La Perra, which featured on the Dublin Literary Award list, and chief editor of the Colombian Women Writers’ Library.
Hortus promises readers and literature lovers a rare chance to engage with these distinguished voices and many other celebrated authors from around the world.
